Cleaning

For the best espresso quality and durability of the LIGRE youn regular cleaning and proper maintenance is essential.

This requires daily and weekly care as well as regular maintenance. IIn particular, the portafilter, the filter basket, the water tank and the drip tray should be cleaned daily.

The water tank, the inner shell of the drip tray and the drip rack are dishwasher safe.

However, the portafilter, the filter basket, the tamper and the drip tray frame made of aluminum are not dishwasher safe.



Brew group

So that you can always enjoy a consistent aroma when savouring your favourite espresso, manual cleaning of the brew group is particularly recommended.

To remove oil and coffee residue, a thorough cleaning of the brew group, including the screw, shower screen, and o-ring, should be carried out regularly.

Cleaning can can be done manually and automatically.

Mannual cleaning:

  1. Remove the portafilter
  2. Pull the middle butterfly

Automatic cleaning:

  1. Place a blind filter in the portafilter
  2. Insert a LIGRE cleaning tab into the blind filter
  3. Select the “maintenance” menu on the touchscreen and then the item “clean brew group”
  4. Follow the instructions on the display until the cleaning program is completed

Steam lance

Clean the steam lance after each use. To do this, wipe the steam lance with a damp microfiber cloth immediately after using the steam lance and remove all milk residue.
Then rinse the steam lance for a few seconds by pressing the steam butterfly.

The weekly steam wand cleaning is carried out automatically

Weekly steam lance cleaning:

  1. Prepare a measuring cup with a capacity of 0,5 l
  2. Add 25 ml LIGRE milk system cleaner with 225 ml water in the measuring cup
  3. Select the “maintenance” menu on the touchscreen and then the item “clean steam lance”
  4. Follow the instructions on the display until the cleaning program is completed

Descaling

A message on the display tells you when descaling is recommended.

  1. Insert a LIGRE descaling tablet in the water tank
  2. Fill the water tank with cold water up to the max. filling level and wait until the tablet has completely dissolved
  3. Select the “maintenance” menu on the touchscreen and select “descale”
  4. Follow the instructions on the display until the cleaning program is completed

Grinder cleaning

To keep the grinder free of coffee residue and oil, the grinder should be cleaned every two weeks.

  1. Empty the bean hopper
  2. Fill 2 heaping tablespoons LIGRE grinder cleaner in the bean hopper and start grinding until no more grinder cleaner is left in the grinder.
  3. Put about 3 tablespoons of coffee beans into the bean hopper and grind them until only pure coffee powder is dispensed
