The R&D team of the German family business Gronbach has introduced a new invention with the patented further development of the grind by weight function. It makes it possible to grind precisely adjustable quantities and thus offers an important step towards a perfect espresso.

As soon as the portafilter is hung in the integrated scales levels itself to zero. Shortly afterwards the grinding process begins and the scales continuously measures the weight of the ground coffee in the portafilter. Using predictive software, the scale knows the amount of ground coffee that is in the air between the chute and the portafilter. This allows the grinding process to stop at the correct time to achieve an accuracy of 0,1 grams. In our long-term test with the KUKA robot technology this precision was verified even in the 50.000th repetition.

The funnel included in the delivery also supports this accuracy of grinding, doing so the ground coffee that is not in the portafilter is not measured.

The LIGRE siji is therefore extremely accurate. The exact amount of ground coffee contributes a lot to make excellent espressos.

If you don't want to use the grind by weight mode, you can also grind by time with the LIGRE siji: with the grind by time mode. This function also makes it possible to grind larger quantities.

If the scale needs to be re-calibrated after transport or at a later time, this is possible at any time. Have a look in the online manual of your LIGRE siji. In addtion our service is happy to help: the scale can be calibrated using a standard weight or alternatively simply some coins.

The angle of the inserted portafilter in the LIGRE siji is adjustable by a patented eccentric mechanism on the rear wall of the grinder. The horizontal position of the portafilter is adjustable by a screw in the middle of the portafilter holder, which changes the position from back to forward and vice versa. This flexibility is necessary because the ground coffee leaves the grinder differently due to moisture, grinding degree and type of beans.

With the LIGRE touchless grind grinding of beans becomes as easy as possible without having to press a any start button. All you have to do is insert the portafilter, wait about a second and the grinding starts automatically. The device stops automatically when the set amount is reached. The LIGRE siji offers two preset quantities, the ideal quantities for a single and double espresso. The setting can also be adjusted individually, accurate to a tenth of a gram. The individually set values ​​are saved automatically.
The operation of the LIGRE siji is very intuitive and you can make your selections and settings on display. The brightness of the display can also be adjusted. The grinding level is continously adjusted using a rotary wheel.
